The Louisa Gators swim team is a summer recreational league available to
all children from the ages of 5 to 18 years. It is not required that a
swimmer be a resident of Louisa County. The swim season lasts from
mid-May through the end of July. The team uses the Louisa County Aquatic
Facility in cooperation with the Louisa Co. Parks & Recreation
Dept. for its practices and meets. This facility is in the Industrial
Air Park on Rt. 22 outside of Louisa. The away meets are at various
facilities in Charlottesville.
This
program is designed to teach and improve swimming skills for each
child to ultimately master the four competition strokes, to build
self-confidence in each individual's participation in swim meets, to
promote team spirit and support all team members, to learn and exhibit
good sportsmanship and learn competition with other teams. The Louisa
Gators swim team is a family oriented activity, as parental
participation is required for swim meets and fund-raising. Picnics are a
regular part of the swim program where families get to know each other
and swimmers receive the ribbons awarded at the swim meets.
Interested
swimmers are encouraged to attend one of the Swim Team registration
meetings in order to meet the coaching staff and try on team swim suits
(required for all swimmers - not included in the registration fee).
